Commonly Asked Questions

At Naperville House Call Chiropractic & Acupuncture, we are here to help you achieve optimal health and wellness. Through the use of non-invasive and drug-free chiropractic care, Dr. Richard Hagmeyer works to support wellness through better spinal health, posture and biomechanics.

Chiropractic adjustments are very specific as opposed to spinal manipulation.

Chiropractic adjustments utilize skilled and careful movements to gently move locked or “Subluxated” areas of the spine.

The ultimate goal of the spinal adjustment, is to improve neurological balance and posture. Better neurological balance and tone allows the body to express its greatest healing potential.

These areas of spinal subluxation tend to be tender upon palpation, inflamed, create muscle imbalances, alterations in posture and restrictions in movement of the spine.

Improvement in many areas can be experienced after a specific adjustment. In some, improvement may be in pain, or in range of motion, in others it might be better overall sleep, and a sense of deep relaxation, others it might be more energy and less brain fog.

Other symptoms like back pain, neck pain, headaches, stiffness, intestinal issues, focus, menstrual cycle can also improve with regular specific spinal adjustments.

Everybody is different and this is part of what makes chiropractic so exciting.

Prior to your visit, you will have downloaded and completed our new patient paperwork and emailed it back to Dr Hagmeyer for his review.

The new patient paperwork helps assess your current health condition, your goals, along with your previous medical history and any isolated injuries or chronic issues that you may be experiencing.

Dr Hagmeyer will review the new patient paperwork prior to your house or office call, so that the time spent with you can help you get better faster.
Chiropractic Exam

When Dr Hagmeyer arrives at your house, he will get everything set up such at Chiropractic tables and any other equipment needed.

Your Chiropractic examination will be focused on evaluating your spinal range of motion, muscle weakness, muscle imbalances, areas of abnormal spinal motion, Posture and isolating any areas of spinal inflammation.

Your Exam will be tailored to address any and all areas of the spine including any extremities.

In some cases, X-ray testing will be done to help understand the structure and integrity of your spinal anatomy.

Every treatment plan is unique and specifically tailored to each patient’s particular needs and goals.

A treatment plan cannot be completed before the initial consultation or the physical exam are complete.

Dr Hagmeyer uses the information he has gathered to help determine the very best treatment option for you.

Each patient is different some patients have had multiple car crashes, sports injuries, or repetitive injuries that may have caused some degree of permanent damage,

While some patients feel better after only a few adjustments others opt for a more thorough and comprehensive approach to spinal health and hygiene.

First Chiropractic Adjustment
Your first adjustment will take place on a chiropractic table that is padded and comfortable to lay or on a special table called the knee chest.

The adjustments can be performed face up, faced down, sitting upright, laying on your side or laying on your back.

The type of adjustment and the technique used will be determined based upon the area of the spine being adjusted, how you injured your spine or in what direction your spine has misaligned.

If chiropractic is new to you or your children, I will discuss everything I will be doing before putting you on the table.

I can walk you through each adjustment and explain the importance of what I’m doing so you feel 100% at ease during the entire adjustment process.

After your adjustment, you may be asked to walk around your house or up the stairs or repeat certain ranges of motions that I originally noted as being abnormal.

Follow-Up Treatment

The adjustment you receive during your first visit will most likely be included in the same manner during your follow-up treatment.

Dr Hagmeyer will discuss with you how often you need to receive treatment.

Following the treatment plan is crucial to your recovery.

For example, if it is recommended that you receive one adjustment three times per week for a month, and perform certain home exercises or stretches, it’s important that you do not miss or cancel a session
Skipping appointment and not following the plan that was made specifically for your recovery will only hinder your ability to recover properly and in the time frame that was discussed.

When babies are born, they are given APGAR scores, and their length and weight are documented. But, no one in conventional medicine is evaluating their nervous system which is critical.

Research shows that the majority 80% of newborns have a subluxation or neurological stress right in the upper part of their neck or lower part of their pelvis.

For this reason I recommend a chiropractic check up as soon after birth as possible. Chiropractic can help with issues such as latching and colic.

Chiropractic treatments, such as regular spinal adjustments, have also been found to be effective in preventing problems like colic, asthma, ear infections and gut issues. In children as they age and develop, regular Chiropractic care can help with poor posture, and the result of poor posture which is spinal deterioration and spinal arthritis.

According to the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA), chiropractic is safe during all stages of pregnancy. Expecting moms can get relief from a variety of common issues with chiropractic:

  • Labor
  • Constipation
  • Headaches
  • Heartburn
  • Low back pain
  • Sleep difficulties due to discomfort
  • Swelling of the extremities

The Webster Technique

This technique is a specific analysis and adjustment to the sacrum. It ensures that a mom’s pelvis is in a balanced state which encourages optimal fetal position. The chief goal of the Webster technique is to optimize the balance in the pelvis so that Mom and Baby can work in unison for a healthy delivery. Webster analysis can also be used postpartum.

During those first three months postpartum, Hormones such as relaxin and elastin still remain. These are the hormones that causes the pelvis to separate and accompany a growing baby. We can take advantage of the ligament laxity to help restore balance to the pelvis as Mom is still recouping and recovering from birth.

When a mom’s body is in a more balanced position, her body functions better, I have seen this in my own family and the hundreds of other families, I have helped over the last 20 years.

Because Mom and Baby are sharing the same resources, there’s a lot more room for her baby to move and engage in the proper position when it’s the right time.

If you’ve been looking for a chiropractor to help care for you during pregnancy, I can help with this as well. I am certified in the Webster Breech Turning technique.

This is a great question! Unfortunately, there’s no universal answer to this question because each patient and each situation is different. This is why an evaluation is performed.

Once I have analyzed your spine, and have identified the problem(s), I can then provide a detailed report of what I found and my recommendations for correction, if possible.

Some patients will find the relief they’re looking for after just a few adjustments. Others, may desire a more comprehensive and complete care plan with a goal of correcting spinal imbalances, postural problems and structural weaknesses.

Once I have evaluated your spine, I can answer all of those lingering questions you may have as well as review the cost of symptom relief care or corrective care. Either way you chose the type of care you want relief care or correction.

One of the main appeals of chiropractic and acupuncture is that it has the potential to bring numerous benefits at little to No risk.

#1 It’s Safe! Chiropractic treatments are generally non- or minimally-invasive, so the risk of complications is very low from the start.

#2 It Doesn’t mask the symptoms. Medicine only masks symptoms and fails to treat the true Root cause.

#3 It’s Natural. Nothing added nothing taken away. Chiropractic care uses natural methods and techniques to help not only relieve symptoms, but address the root cause as well.

#4 It’s Convenient!- Naperville House Call Chiropractic Comes to your Home or Office making it super convenient. Patients get better faster.

#5 It Works! A body without postural and nerve interference works better than one with.

We Bring Everything we need to your home or office.

House Call Chiropractic Comes to You

Alec K- Plainfield

"I was struggling with lower back pain after deadlifting at the gym. For weeks, I ignored it thinking it would just go away. Then one morning, My toes were numb and that started to really scare me. I work construction and so my hours never worked with other local chiropractors. Dr Hagmeyer came to my house, gave me the most thorough evaluation I have ever had and helped design a treatment plan to fix my back. After about 6 weeks, my pain was gone. Dr Hagmeyer's Gonstead adjusting approach is superior to anything I have ever experienced with past chiropractors. I am glad I met Dr. Hagmeyer"
